Trying Out The Mixer
MixAlbum.com is powered by a fully automated mixing system, and you can put it to the test before buying any tracks - Just add the tracks you want to hear mixing into each other to the TRACKLIST and click the button that appears between the two tracks – your clip will be mixed in the DEMO MIXER. Please note: Mixes are created live on demand by the system so please be patient at busy times.
Buying Albums
As well as singles, you can also buy compilations and artist albums from MixAlbum. Each of the tracks on the albums will be stored in MY TRACKS as singles. So you can:
- Mix the entire album together
- Take out tracks you don’t like and mix the rest
- Mix tracks from one album with other, and with singles.
Making Your Mix: MIX IT
All you need to do is choose which tracks you want mixed, add them to the TRACKLIST, then click MIX IT. Here you can choose your mix options. The system will choose them for you if you want to skip straight to creating your mix. Options include:
- Mix Intro - an audio tag which mixes straight into your first track
- Speed Select - choose the speed of your mix
- Speed Change - make your mix speed up / slow down
- Split/Continuous mix file - choose to download the mix as one long file or split into smaller track files.*
- Output File type - select the format, WMA or MP3.*
Once you've downloaded your tracks you can move them into iTunes®* or play them on Windows Media Player, burn to CD, and transfer to your portable player*.
* Please note some tracks on MixAlbum.com will have DRM protection. They will be clearly labelled and you will also be notified at CHECKOUT if your TRACKLIST contains DRM protected tracks. These tracks can be played directly with Windows Media Player, but if you want to play them in iTunes® they will first have to be burned to CD. Some mix options will be pre-selected if your mix contains a DRM protected track. Please see the iPod® USERS section for more info.
MixAlbum.com is different to any other download service: you can buy and download singles just like anywhere else, but as an extra feature you can hear the tracks you buy MIXED TOGETHER - beat matched and seamlessly blended just like a DJ would in a club.
How it works:
- Buy the singles and albums you want, and they appear in MY TRACKS.
-
Download your tracks as the original singles and albums. AND..
- Your tracks stay in the MY TRACKS page, and whenever you want you can add them to a tracklist and get
our system to mix the ones you choose in the order you want.
- Mix your favourite singles together.
- Buy an album, take out the tracks you don’t like mix the rest together.
- Buy an album and singles, select your favourite tracks from the album and mix them with your singles.
- Buy a new tracks and mix them with your older ones.
Please note, when demand for the service is high you may be restricted on the number of times you can reuse a track in mixes.
This means you can buy an Album for example, and then rearrange the tracks, take out the ones you don’t like, add a few of your favourite singles, and listen to them on your mp3 player mixed together.
No more fillers! A mix made up entirely of tracks you choose. You Lucky People.
1. Hearing your mix without 'blips' between tracks
Some media players and CD burners add tiny gaps between tracks, which is really irritating. To avoid this you need to use players with gapless technology:
MP3 files: We highly recommend using iTunes® to play mp3 files - it's free and you don't need to register. Fifth generation iPods® and the iPod Nano v2 also play gapless. When you burn CDs it depends on your hardware, some CD players burn gaplessly, unfortunately some don't. (Please note in iTunes go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Burning and set "Gap Between Songs" to "None").
WMA files: Windows Media player plays these gaplessly, but cannot burn CDs without gaps between tracks.
If you still experience problems the simplest way to avoid this is to redo the mix and select the "one continuous file" option in the Mix It page.
2. Buying Albums or 'Album Only' tracks
If you add a track to the TRACKLIST which can only be bought as part of an Album, you will automatically purchase the whole album and have access to all of the tracks on that album after purchase - you don't have to add each of the album's tracks to the TRACKLIST before the checkout. So to buy an album just add the whole album, or just one of the tracks from the album to the TRACKLIST, and click checkout. Once you've bought an album you will be able to download each track and use them in mixes just like singles.
3. How do I get my singles
You must download your singles within 72 hours (3 days) of buying them. Once you’ve downloaded them they are yours to keep. After this time they will still appear in MY TRACKS but will only be available to use as part of a mix.
After checkout your new tracks will appear in MY TRACKS. In MY TRACKS click on the track you want to download, then right click 'DOWNLOAD’ then select 'Save Target As…’.
Alternatively you can click the 'Download singles purchased on DD/MM/YYYY’ and all the singles you bought at checkout will be sent to your PC as a zip file. PLEASE REMEMBER: If you go through the checkout again this link will disappear and be replaced by a new one, so download all your singles before you buy new ones.
4. The TRACKLIST
The TRACKLIST is 2 features in 1. First of all it’s a basket - it’s where you put the tracks you want to buy before you go to the checkout. Secondly it’s where you arrange your mix - if all the tracks in it have been paid for, when you click 'CHECKOUT / MIX’ it goes to the mix options page. If it contains tracks which have not yet been paid for it goes to the checkout.
If you have any difficulty with this or have any suggestions email us at help@mixalbum.com and we’ll get back to you - it’s a new service so your feedback is really important to us.
5. The Search
The Search bar works just like any other site, but as the service is so new we’re still talking to the record labels so we can get your favourite tracks on here, then you’ll be able to mix with them. To help us do this, if you enter a track name in the search bar and you don’t get any results, we record the request and chase up the labels of the most popular tracks!
6. The Fair Use Policy
We don’t want to charge you for using the mixer. At the moment we are testing how many mixes people will want per track they buy - how many times will people want to use the same track in different mixes? Hopefully it should all balance out as planned, but so the service is available to as many people as possible, if a user creates a lot of mixes in a short period of time and uses up the processor power, we may restrict that user.
7. The Demo Mixer
You need to register to use the Demo Mixer. The Demo Mixer is there so that at any time you can hear how tracks in your tracklist will sound mixed into each other. Click on the X-orb logo between the tracks you want to hear mixing, and our system will mix them together and you will hear a clip of the last 5 seconds of the first track, then the mix between tracks, then 5 seconds of track 2
If none of these help you email you out please info@mixalbum.com and weíll get back to you asap.
